Was Randyll trying to wake the dragon when he had Sam bathed in aurochs blood by Qartheen warlocks?

We were talking about the wheel of time running in reverse, But the wheel of time continues ever onward and forward. There is no reverse, only a new phase from the last turn. Ever repeating unless it's broken. It's a cycle.

Do you think Ashara gave her life so that Rhaegar could live? This would be very symbolic of Nissa Nissa. It would also fit well as the inverse to Dany's telling herself that she would give her own life for Drogo if she needed to, but then being glad that she didn't have to because MMD was sacrificing a "horse". Perhaps Ashara actually walked the walk with great intent and purpose while the "horse" lived on.

I posted this in The Plot is Weak also, but it belongs here...
Robert stole Lyanna, but everyone thought it was Rhaegar. Dayne rescues Lyanna from fake Rhaegar (Robert), and their journey mirrors Arya and Sandor. Arthur brought Lyanna to her closest relative, which is Ned in the Vale. Upon arrival, he discovers his sister Ashara alive and well, but pregnant. She had gone to Ned for help. Arthur takes his sister, while Lyanna leaves with Ned on a ship bound for White Harbor. (the swap) Somewhere during Ned and Lyanna's trip they are attacked, and Lyanna is mortally wounded with a sword cut to her face. Ned brings her to White Harbor and stays with Lyanna while her wounds are tended, takes comfort in the arms of Wylla. While Lyanna lays dying of infected wounds, Ned promises to take her home. Ned goes home with dead Lyanna and calls his banners, then leaves for Riverrun to marry Catelyn. Leaves for the Rebellion, but learns of Wylla's pregnancy from the Manderlys. Rhaegar is killed at the Trident, but his dead body was retrieved from the river. His body was found in the river by a wood's witch and some Children. Arthur and Ashara stumble upon the cave where the woods witch and Children are, see Rhaegar's dead body and travels with them. They bring the body through the massive underground tunnels to the tower of joy. Ashara gives birth at the tower, and then a fire and blood ritual was performed to resurrect Rhaegar. Ashara Dayne sacrifices herself just as Nissa Nissa was said to have done. The wood's witch helps a resurrected Rhaegar take Ashara's baby to Horn Hill where he's fostered and renamed Sam Tarly. heh Then the wood's witch leads Rhaegar through the underground tunnels aaall the way to the Wall, where he wears a glamour and is called Mance. The blood and fire ritual caused the wheel of time to go in reverse causing Ned to have false memories that combined ice maiden Lyanna's and fire maiden Ashara's deaths.

This also leaves room for JonCon's Aegon to still be real Aegon, and Sam was the third child Rhaegar wanted.

guyzzz "The Testimony of Mushroom claims that Vermax laid a clutch of eggs in the depths of the crypts of Winterfell." In Lord of the Rings, after Samwise Gamgee, Frodo, Pippin and Merry cross the Bamfulong, Farmer Maggot gives them a breakfast of bacon, eggs and mushrooms. George, you crafty old Turtle. Samwell/Samwise/Ser Piggy, Bacon, Aeg/Egg, Mushroom/Dragon Egg Testimony, LOTR/ASOIAF.

Show thoughts: Sam is pretending another man's baby is his. Randyll raised Sam as his own. Gilly says Randyll "has no idea who Sam is." Sam takes Heartsbane, which should go to Randyll's heir. But if you want to be technical about it, that sword belongs to... a Targaryen. And another reminder from Sam's mom that he was a scholar when he was a boy.

Unless you're saying Randyll is a Targ? Sam has no claim to it whatsoever. Not even if he was Randyll's true born son, he is no longer his heir. Randyll may gift it to the rightful king though, if asked 'nicely'

Weasel Pie Since we brought this subject backup I thought I'd add some passages I found in the book that made me think of your theory: So Sam's passions were the same as Rhaegar's, music and books. Here we have the image of Sam beneath a bare, dead tree, perhaps like a bare, dead family tree. If Aegon was a babe at the tower of joy, there is a reenactment of sorts which happens in Sam's first chapter. Sam is laying on the ground being guarded by Pyp, with the "bat ears", the auroch, or bull, Grenn, and Jon Snow, the sword of the morning. Then we have this passage: Doubtful that he mistook Sam for his cruel, arrogant brother Aerion, perhaps the cowardly brother, Daeron, who had no trouble professing his cowardice to Dunk at the Ashford tourney. But he most probably was mistaking Sam for his youngest brother Aegon. And we have a few other parallels of Sam to Aegon the unlikely: And this
