he offered to read this very chapter at a con in 2011 Right. Actually, if you read back through his blog posts, it's apparent that almost every single one of the WINDS "preview sample" chapters he's ever released was written before DANCE had been published. So, like you say... this stuff dates from early 2011 or prior. Optimistically, we can tell ourselves he's already rewritten all of it - he's just using the earlier drafts to keep people happy at Cons.

I had the exact thought, although Dany did see the grey corpse on the prow in one of her visions... Yeah, I remembered that too, but it's curious, this chapter has all the ships having a captive on their prows, but Euron has both Aeron and Fallys tied to his prow. And Fallys is pregnant, so I'm left wondering if this isn't a parallel to Lyanna and whoever the 'they' that found Ned holding her dead body. If you see what I mean? Is Aeron representing the other person in the room when Howland found Ned with Lyanna. Well, I certainly don't mind character development. I'd just prefer a little more plot development. And surely there's no reason he can't do both at the same time. That's pretty much what I'm saying. I love/hate Euron in this, we really get to see his mentalness, but can we move along too? Also, it's a bit disappointing that he's turned Euron into a more sophisticated Ramsay. I'd've preferred a different kind of crazy

IS there anything recent, I wonder? Didn't he say he was working on a Cersei chapter before the Con? What kills me was his comment on how this is such an old chapter that he'd probably have to rewrite it. Ugh.

There has to be something about her prattling on about her child being more important than the other ones etc, and then being tricked in the end. I got a bit of a Fat Walda vibe from it in a way.

Euron has both Aeron and Fallys tied to his prow. And Fallys is pregnant We can try to work this through if we replace: Euron = Bloodraven Victarion = Bittersteel Aeron = Daemon Blackfyre Initially I had thought Aeron was mirroring maester Aemon, but Daemon fits better. The "priest" figure needed to be another Blackfyre and Daemon fits both descriptions. He's the illegitimate son of King Aegon IV and Princess Daena Targaryen, who was married to King Baelor the Blessed. Daena became pregnant while locked in the Maidenvault. King Aegon IV's legitimate son, Daeron could also be the "priest" figure because he was known as being "pious". He too is half-brother to Bloodraven and Bittersteal. King Aegon IV used to threaten that he would crown the bastard Daemon over the legitimate heir Daeron, because he suspected Daeron was actually the illegitimate son of his brother Aemon the Dragonknight. Pregnant Fallys might be Princess Daena who somehow got pregnant in the Maidenvault. Although it would be better if we could uncover a bastard female like Shiera, although it's never said she was pregnant.

Specifically, one in the Kingswood Brotherhood?

Heh, me too. I've had a migraine on and off since monday and I can't follow it either. I agree though that it's Lyanna and one specific Kingswood Brother.

It's a bit much for me right now, what with two summer classes, but the little I can take in right now is brilliant. Sheira? Hmm, that could work. I've always suspected she had a child either with BR or Bittersteel.

Horrible, horrible. Just when you thought things couldn't get worse than Ramsey. I wonder if the woman with the tall shadow and hands of white fire is Cersei.

Thank you min for refreshing this thread! I was thinking on pregnant Fallys and it struck me that Euron plans to recreate the blood magic ritual. He needs a priest and a woman about to deliver. He wants to conjure the great wolf and fire spirits. Mirri's tent ritual brought forth the spirits of wolf and flame. She sacrificed Drogo's stallion and Dany lost Rhaego. The end result was a half baked resurrection, but I think it also set the stage for Dany when she setup Drogo's funeral pyre and hatched dragons. The two magical rites may need to be performed sequentially. Some of us on Hobaw suspect that similar rites happened at the tower of joy with Ashara about to deliver. Summerhal, on the other hand had some type of fire that killed Aegon, Ser Duncan, and Jenny of Oldstones. Somehow Rhaella escaped harm, as did her newborn son Rhaegar.
