Ian says he's to play someone that everyone thinks is dead, which means he's likely not the Elder Brother or Septon Meribald or Marwyn, unless one of those are also a fake identity...I'm going to throw out a crackpot into this mix and say he plays Arthur Dayne. I think he's still alive, and the speech about the common folk fighting wars for their lords is very telling. He earned their trust by paying for whatever he or the other men took, brought their grievances before the king, and petitioned for better treatment.

LOL poor Mace, he here two minutes and gets bombarded by replies. And yet now one has told me how to do spoilers. Oh, woe is I?

Ian says he's to play someone that everyone thinks is dead He says he's going to bring someone BACK that everyone thinks is dead...his character is very much alive. I agree with the Meribald/EB mashup for his role. And I'm sure that in true D&D fashion, they will completely ignore both epic sets of dialogue and replace it with something ridiculous and totally beneath McShane's skill level. Oh, and with a cock joke.

And yet now one has told me how to do spoilers. Oh, woe is I? In the Reply toolbar, it's the icon to the furthest right, the little dude that looks like he's picking his nose. Which is probably pretty appropriate for talking about this show.

Thanks for everyone's response.
The Elder Brothers is certainly a front runner after having read the posts. Perhaps this is how they reintroduce The Hound.
Although...I was really hoping for Marwyn and Glass Candles. I can set the scene up with MCshane (as Marwyn) talking to the Quaithe through "the walkie talkie".
"So, what is she doing now"?

And yet now one has told me how to do spoilers. Or you can do it the old fashioned way with brackets. Just take the spaces out of the following [ spoiler ] your text goes here [ /spoiler ] He says he's going to bring someone BACK that everyone thinks is dead Well that would be totally different! But, I have to wonder what bringing Sandor Clegane would add to the show right now...I really don't see how it would enrich the story. I liked it better how it was done in the book...subtle and implied.

But I seem to recall that the books left Sandor's prospects open ended. Yes it was implied that he must have died; but is that really confirmed? Besides, when Brienne washes up on the fingers and encounters the EB...my mind drifts towards the Hound.

Yes it was implied that he must have died; but is that really confirmed? What I meant was we're led to conclude that it's Sandor digging graves, so he's really not dead. Just the man he was, is dead.

How they're going to work this in, I have no idea. It makes no sense to me, show wise, other than to produce another big fight scene a la Oberyn and Gregor.
