Since my train of thought is rolling along the TV show track, is anyone familiar with this series on Cinemax? Its final season just wrapped up last month, and I'm still in mourning a little because OH MY GOD. This was quite literally one of the best TV series I've ever seen - not only was the plot a total rollercoaster ride, the actors were amazing and some of the directorial choices in how to handle the material were just crazy good. If you like small towns, ex-cons, Amish mafia, crossdressers, skinheads, and psychopathic Native Americans, this show is for you. So awesome. I can't believe it only went 4 seasons.

I binge watched most of Season I last night and it's fabulous! It is crazy good! Probably nearly as good as Better Call Saul, which I also love.

I binge watched most of Season I last night and it's fabulous! It is crazy good! Wait until Season 3. Holy moly, what a ride. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor after every episode! ETA: I do have to say though that Season 2's "The Truth About Unicorns" is probably the best episode of any TV show that I've ever seen. It was perfect, both structurally with the plot and with the direction. So amazingly good.

Just started season 2 tonight. I like the beautiful and talented younger sister of the chief. And are they really setting up an uncle and niece tryst?

Yep. Apparently incest is a thing for Skinemax too.

So I've been watching The Beat Up Hood show a.k.a Banshee. I'm 3 episodes into season 2, and I've realised their is not one female central character that's not done a full nude. (Not a complaint) What I don't get is how this guy is still breathing, let alone functioning, at this point. He gets the shite kicked out of him more than he pulls (gets laid to you guys), and pulls more than an intractable mule! Some Pig No Doubt I don't know who I like better now, Felix from Orphan Black or Job from this show. I think if either of these two were in my life I'd never have a boring day again. Why aren't my gay friends like these two!? Mind you, at times Sugar is my favourite character, especially when he argues with Job. I have never failed to laugh so hard my side hurts when these two are doing their back and forth. That manual calculator of Sugar's absolutely killed me.

What I don't get is how this guy is still breathing, let alone functioning, at this point. iknowrite? I call him Hoodverine, because clearly his skeleton is adamantium. Geez. And season 2's ass-kickings are tame compared to season 3. Job is awesome. It's funny to listen to the actor giving behind-the-scenes commentary because he is so completely different than the character. I was really hoping they'd do a lot more with him in S4, but alas...they didn't. The writers did give him a pretty cool ending though, which was nice.

Yes that would fit. And BTW, will we ever know what Soldier Boy's real name is? I just finished season 2 last night, and I even paused the screen on his police file, but there is no name at all.

It was perfect, both structurally with the plot and with the direction. So amazingly good. Weasel, Saw this yesterday and have been biting my finger nails wanting to post a reply. I couldn't agree more. Prior to "The Truth About Unicorns" was an episode called "The Thunder Man", which for my money both episodes combined are at the top of 4-season series. What also captivated me beyond the structural aspects of the plot was the sound score that was used. If I am judging the responses correctly by the members, many are just now starting to watch, so I'll put the muzzle on and avoid having to using spoilers with regards to talking about the episode script. Suffice to say...the haunting music that backdropped The Truth About Unicorns is still surreal in my mind today as the events unfolded at the end of that episode. As for The Thunder Man...(I'm going to break a promise I made no more than 72 words ago)...the two paralleled fight scenes are segments that I continue to watch over and over. The song that they play in the final wrap is called "Blood is the Brine" by Celebration. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZulJJg2Qut8Hmmm..guess I didn't quite get the link pasted correctly. Oh where is JNR when you need him!!! A challenge to anyone...I've tried to piece together the lyrics and am only at about 70%. If anyone thinks they can locate or listen and identify all the words....ping me. Mace

What also captivated me beyond the structural aspects of the plot was the sound score that was used. Yes!! The music was so simple, yet haunting and powerful, and it perfectly captured the entire essence of that episode from start to finish. The score made me feel exactly what they were feeling, which was the sense of being 'contained'. It was amazing. So glad someone else saw it and thought it was amazing too. It really is one of the best pieces of television ever.
