'Tis the season for binge-watching stuff I missed, so am just now getting into this. Anyone a fan? Am 3 episodes in to Season 1, and can already tell this one is a modernized version of The Shining (which is fine because early King was at his creepiest/most psychologically brilliant, and, of course, Jack Nicholson). I have to say, if Season 1 continues along this pace, I'm not sure if I will be able to watch subsequent seasons! This is intense! I have always dug the "implied horror" genre moreso than the overt blood/guts/gore, and so far this show is delivering.

I tried getting into that about a month ago. I watched the first episode and fell asleep. Maybe I'll give it another go if you're watching with me though.
I love early King creepiness too! So this is going the way of The Shining is it? That and It are my fav books for psychological horror. Did you know King absolutely hated Nicholson in that role?
ETA From what I've read, each season is a different story, with different characters. It's more an anthology than ongoing tale that continues series to series.

I've watched all seasons save the one before last. The circus themed one was the one I missed, because the clown was just too damn creepy!
The first season is very good. Extraordinarily good. All the rest pale in comparison, but I loved Lady Gaga this last season. She was actually pretty good.
They actually do tie all the seasons together into one big over arcing story.

Did you know King absolutely hated Nicholson in that role? I did not know that....but I find it funny, since Jack was so iconic in it, and his performance (along with Shelly Duvall's) is what made it great and kept it from turning into another shit movie adaptation like all the rest, even though there were changes between book/movie. I loved Lady Gaga this last season. She was actually pretty good. I've read that her role was good, and that Hotel in general kindof tipped things over the edge in a few scenes. I have a feeling I will be watching FreakShow by myself...Mr. Pig HATES clowns.

I have a wee problem with clowns meself. Reading It was quite hard for me, I had to put it down and sleep with the light on for a few days before I could pick it up again. Did that a couple of time actually. But I do want to binge watch with you Pig.

Me too. I'm going to start from the beginning again. I went to put the preview on (to refresh my abysmal memory) and it looks like I watched quite a few, but I swear, I can't remember any of them. Must have been longer than a month when I first started watching because it was off my 'Watch Next' list, of all the shows we've been watching recently.

I just finished episode one. What the hell did Jessica Lange say to the maid? Don't make me kill you again? What?!
ETA That doggy is so gonna die. Hate when animals get killed, even fake deaths. It's gonna be gruesome, isn't it?

I've watched through to episode 6 (I think) the part II of Halloween. WTF? The kid is dead isn't he? He was the gunman that he talks about with the dad/psychiatrist and he died in that event, I'm guessing. The only time we see him not in the house is on Halloween, when they meet for lunch. That's why Lange's character wants her daughter to die on the property, so she can get stuck there, like all the others. I'm hoping the next episode with cover Lange and her experience in the house. She said she had 4 kids, and we've only met 2.
Oh and what the hell did the nurse see in Vivian's scan that made her faint?! That child she's carrying is not her husband's but the guy in the black vinyl suit, right?

I've advanced little. Just watched the episode that confirmed my theory of Tate being dead. And now Vivian is eating raw brains and stuff. I've gotta say, the sautéed sweetmeats looked pretty good. Guess I'm hungry.
