Gotta say, I'm liking how Sansa is turning out. She's ruthless now.
Also loved how those two Masters got their just deserts from Grey Worm. Heh, I was saying the exact thing to the TV just as it happened 'kill them for being dicks!'

Oh and from the Predictions thread we made before the season started... Bran is the one to invade young Walder's body, with the first thing he says to him is Hodor. - Dany will win over the Dothraki and bring them to Meereen to fight off the Sons of the Harpy. 2 out 20 or so, not bad, considering. Well, yeah it's bad Also I could've sworn I read on here some saying they hoped Ramsay got torn apart by his own dogs. Might even have been me, but seeing as I'm crap at this predicting stuff, probably wasn't.

Also at first I was underwhelmed by the battle of Winterfell, since the Battle of Meereen was so much more sensational. But on balance, I like the BoW better because it was truer to life than dragons flambéing everything. From the history I've read and things I've researched, like the battle of Towton and Hastings, men did die as a result of their own men more often than being killed by the enemy. Suffocation being one of those things.
Oh and where did we see the archers loosing on their own men before. I know I've seen it, with the commander's answer to a subordinate pointing out the danger of hitting their own troops being 'but it will kill them as well' ?

Now how many of the northern houses that backed Ramsay are going to defect and make peace with the Starks, not based on their win entirely, but based on the fact Ramsay killed his own men with the arrow volley?
I doubt Umber will ever find an easy peace with Jon around since their lord got killed by a wildling, but the others perhaps.

I'm sooo happy Ghost didn't die.I've never been so happy not to see a Direwolf in an episode.

And one last thing for the night.
A Mormont shield. A Mormont shield lying on the floor within Winterfell when no one had even gotten close to invading the place before Jon and crew got there. A Mor-fucking-mont shield when they had less soldiers than bears they could've sent. Really!?!?

One of my predictions of this episode is Rickon being killed by Ramsey There ya go PoG, you were right. Ramsay really couldn't allow Rickon to live, like Sansa said, because he's the 'last' trueborn Stark male and a threat to Ramsay's reign as Lord of Winterfell. What about Bran? It's OK, Jon keeps forgetting to mention him to Sansa too.

Also, even more drowning/resurrecting stuff with Jon and the trampling army. Jon, Euron, Arya and now Jon again this season.

Where was Ghost anyway? I didn't want to see him killed, but he was conspicuously missing.
And why not resurrect Rickon? If Jon can be resurrected, why not Rickon...or maybe he'll rise from the dead right before they place him in the crypts?
Dany and Jon's victories were satisfying to say the least.

I just realized Ser Duncan - Jon uses the Mormont shield when he approaches Ramsay. Thanks for pointing that out, totally missed the significance.

Didn't see the Mormont shield, but Jon was holding a Stark shield when he took Ramsay's arrows.

From HitFlix review:
"And it was incredibly frustrating to see our hero go full Stupid Jon Snow even after Sansa had warned him that Ramsay would try something exactly like what he did to Rickon. Had Jon and his allies managed to actually outmaneuver the greater Bolton army, rather than simply hanging on long enough for the knights of the Vale to arrive and even the odds, my apathy for all things Ramsay might have been overwhelmed by my appreciation for what Jon the tactician accomplished. Instead, Jon has almost nothing to do with his own victory, other than proving handy with a shield (and his fists) in the final showdown with his fellow bastard. And Sansa's refusal to tell Jon in advance that Littlefinger's arrival was even a possibility makes no sense. Yes, she looks particularly satisfied sitting next to Lord Baelish as his forces destroy what's left of Ramsay's army, knowing that she was ultimately responsible for arranging her tormentor's defeat, but she's not selfish enough at this stage of things that she would risk the lives of her brother and his forces — who likely would have planned things very differently had they known (or even just hoped) that the fight wasn't going to be so lopsided — just so she could have that feeling."
So much this. Did Jon's fortitude and skill as a commander die with his body last season? And now we have Sansa reverting to Season 1 Sansa....the self-absorbed me-me-me girl who doesn't give a shit if her family dies as a result of her machinations as long as she gets what she wants? Gods, I loathe her character. If GRRM gives her all this grrl power in the books, I will burn them.

lol, SomePig, I'm a Sansa hater too! Mainly because of her childish self-centered-ness and betrayal of her father that basically led to his beheading. The viewer already knew Littlefinger and the Vale were coming since Sansa sent a raven last week. Apparently it's a week's ride from Moat Cailin to Winterfell, and less than a day from where Jon's party camped south of the Wall to Winterfell. Yes, yes, yes Jon let his anger dictate military strategy and he looked really stupid falling exactly into Ramsay's hands. Maybe they wanted to make Sansa appear to be the strategist? Maybe Sansa didn't know for sure if Littlefinger would come and that's why she kept silent? Maybe Sansa knew Jon would react emotionally and counted on it, which played better for the Vale soldiers? While Ramsay's forces had their backs turned towards Jon they could arrive unnoticed.
