See? It's hard trying to get behind Ross this series. It feels like for every disappointment he has, he does something to make things worse for himself. And I'm still mourning the loss of Caroline, Dr Enys is another fool.

Ross was a loveable flawed character up until he deliberately lied in court. All of a sudden he became self righteous and above, not only the law but apparently above honor. His words to Demelza that were to the effect what did she expect or what was he to do? Were really quite unbelievable.

I don't know if Francis is going to come back, but I have a sneaking suspicion that there may just be another little Poldark arriving in 9 month's time.

You're correct, no one loves a falsely perfect character - and I also think this jumped the shark. It was also way out of character for Elizabeth.

They put forward the thought that Ross Poldark was going to be Breaking Bad. I think the writer has it right. It's a lightweight "family" BBC historical romance, not a cutting edge adult drama about drugs. I've never read the books or watched the original, I wonder if that scene takes place in either of them? It wasn't quite the same as the Cersei/Jaime scene at Joff's wake, but, yeah. It sort of was. Great article, loved this line: [Ross] is the Taylor Swift of Cornwall: He feels all the feels and oh so much more bitterly than anyone else could.

If you want to know some answers read my spoiler, but I warn you this is a big spoiler: Apparently this scene does happen in the books, and Elizabeth does become pregnant, however I don't know if George ever finds out that Ross is the father. Elizabeth does marry George, and Ross and Demelza reconcile and go on to have three more children.

I've never read the books or watched the original, I wonder if that scene takes place in either of them? Neither have I, but my mum watched the Oldark, as we've taken to calling it, and she says the relationship between Ross and Demelza was different in that one. It was one more of Ross saving her from a crap life, rather than ever being in love with her. She's read the books too, but gods love her, she can't remember a thing. Apparently this scene does happen in the books, and Elizabeth does become pregnant, however I don't know if George ever finds out that Ross is the father. I had a feeling because I'm one episode beyond you two and I noticed Elizabeth's hand gestures. I didn't know about the rest though. And how could George not know? Or Ross for that matter? Surely a banker can count, even if Taylor Swift can't.

An amusing review of this episode. Cult Box, all of the reviews on there are quiet funny, but be warned, the series is finished in the UK so all 10 episodes are up on the site. Favourite line -- Finding out Elizabeth is going to marry George and his big house, Ross throws a hissy fit, gallops over to tiny Trenwith and literally kicks down the door (well, George did warn her about her security last week
