My first thread creation on this forum and went with the first two words to came to my head. What I was looking for is interest that anyone might have on upcoming movies or threads (or any other media for that matter) that we of a certain ilk might find interesting.
First....upcoming movies: 1. Assassins Creed. Well, my wife will have to go as she thinks Michael Fassbender is the most gorgeous being on the planet. More so than I (alas). I've read articles about past productions that tried to take "gaming situations" and make them into a movie and they all failed (Hitman, Doom, etc.). As it turns out I'm a big Fassbender fan stretching from 300 to Inglorious Bastards to The Counselor to (my personal favorite of the Ridley Scott series)...Prometheus. I'm going in with at least a C+ expectation. 2. Fantastic Beasts. Seems to be getting good box office results and our family is "hooked" on the whole Harry Potter World. So as "muggles" we will gladly give our money to whoever will take it. I'm going out on a limb with a B- expectation.
Secondly...upcoming Series: 1. Taboo. From what I've read Tom Hardy and his father wrote the screenplay for this series. Someone needs to verify this claim as I'm not totally convinced. In any event, Hardy is on a roll and the trailer looks intriguing. Okay...now for the negative. I understand about 40% of what Tom Hardy is saying. It's his thick English accent that my ears can not pick up. I have the same problem with Hugh Grant (who I really do not care for) and Colin Firth (whom I'm really starting to try and figure out because he is an excellent actor...your majesty).
Feel free to add other items that we "like minded souls" would find interesting.

Well dear forum friends, I opened up this thread 8 days ago (with sincere interest and not stopping to think that there might already be a thread out on this forum) and no one responded. So if there is a current thread discussing upcoming movies and threads I would welcome the guidance so as to direct my conversation appropriately. Picking up on my original post: Movies: 1. Assassins Creed. Reviews are not great and according to my son (who seems to be in the know) Rouge One is the preferred choice. In other words, if you have the dollars to spend, see Rouge One on the big screen and watch Assasins on your Fire Stick. 2. Fantastic Beats. Saw in and giving it a C rating. It moved fairly quick and tied in nicely with names and places that if you have read the books or watched the movies...you'll pick up on. There is at least one surprise...which I will not even attempt to spoiler. 3. Alien/Covenant. The trailer just hit the streets this week so google your favorite site (IMDB, etc.). Not sure what to make of it yet other than I'm slightly disappointed in that they are recycling old tricks....don't look into the large egg that just opened with something wanting to jump out and wrap it's self around your neck. Finally....upcoming Series: 1. Taboo. Nothing new; am hoping that others chime in.

Sorry mace, I didn't even see the first thread!! (Have been home with kids on Christmas break; not a lot of posting time.) I saw the trailer for Assassin's Creed the other day....looks pretty cool. Mr. Pig was HUGE into the game a few years back so of course he wants to catch the movie. I hope this one turns out better than others of its ilk, like Warcraft - that one was a total abomination. I know that Kong - the sequel (?) to 2005's King Kong will be out in the spring, and the next Godzilla will be out in 2018, I think. Both of those will segue into Kong vs. Godzilla in 2020 - should be interesting, since that matchup hasn't happened on-screen since the 1960s. Really looking forward to that one (I loves my fake monsters). Then there's all the Justice League stuff that will hit soon - I'm more of a Marvel girl, obv, but I'm hoping these will do justice to Justice, yanno? And Drogo as Aquaman, amirite?? Then, Thor: Ragnarok at some point, and I will be praying to old gods and new that this isn't screwed up, as the Marvel Ragnarok events are reflected in ASOIAF...a theory in "Modern Arc" that I have yet to post. I'll have to cruise IMDB's 'forthcoming' list for more. I love seeing what's coming down the pipe!

Sorry I didn't see your thread either. Assassin's Creed looks interesting. I agree Warcraft was ridiculous and I only watched it for Travis Fimmel. Who was just killed off as Ragnar Lothrok on Vikings. Now I am looking forward to the next season of Vikings and picking up the story with the sons of Ragnar. I do like Tom Hardy as well.

SPOILER!!!!! I haven't begun watching the latest eps of Vikings yet. (Knew it was going to happen, though.) Sorry! Travis Fimmel is an incredible actor. The series is following the history. I'm expecting the actor playing Ivar the Boneless to be on par with Travis; since he will carry the story from this point forward. The histories are pretty gruesome... I am not looking forward to another blood eagle. One was enough and people say GoT is too violent.

I sort of group both King Kong and Godzilla in the same category as Spiderman, which Hollywood seems to feel the need to reboot these franchises every 10 years or so. The most recent reboot of Spiderman was the Andrew Garfield 2-movie set, which IMHO didn't hold up to the Toby Maguire movies (of course the 3rd movie in that set got a little crowded with all of the bad guys showing up at once). But, like you I am Marvel Universe person and I'm sure I'll show up for the Tom Holland version coming up next year. Michael Keaton is slated to be the Vulture so I'm really looking forward to that one. I just pray that we don't have to go back and watch Uncle Ben get shot once again on the next Spiderman. It's sort of like everytime they reboot Batman we have to watch Bruce Wayne's parents get shot coming out of the theater.

I sort of group both King Kong and Godzilla in the same category as Spiderman, which Hollywood seems to feel the need to reboot these franchises every 10 years or so. From what I've read/trailers I've seen, the KongZillas aren't going to be reboots, thank goodness. In fact, Kong takes place much later, like the 70s? and features an even bigger badder gorilla than King Kong. Makes sense, because if you look at the size of Godzilla in the latest version and compare to the size of King Kong in the 2005 version, there is NO WAY that these two screen goliaths could realistically fight. I mean, Godzilla is taller than most of the buildings in San Fran, whereas ol' Kong could hang out at the top of the Empire State Bldg and was only slightly larger than the T-Rex he fought in the movie. Godzilla outsizes Kong considerably - so these sequels are sizing up the new Kong quite a bit in order to get him to Godzilla level. ETA: Here's the Kong trailer: I just pray that we don't have to go back and watch Uncle Ben get shot once again on the next Spiderman. It's sort of like everytime they reboot Batman we have to watch Bruce Wayne's parents get shot coming out of the theater. OMG yes. Big reason I enjoyed the latter Dark Knight movies , and not so much the Affleck version...no total rehashing of origin story. I hope any new Spideys go the same way - we all know the story by now, let's see some awesome new Venom with someone other than Topher Grace, come on.

Do you know when the newest season will start?

Ivan the Boneless is a little shit too smart for his britches. Do you know when the newest season will start? Actually, I'm not even sure how more episodes until this season finishes and it may be that they end the story altogether with Ivar invading England. Next week's trailer has Bjorn in the Mediterranean looks like and Lagartha is in trouble with Ivar over Aslaug. The Expanse, season 2 will start in February. I'm looking forward to that one.

Well! I didn't catch the release of Assasin's Creed. It's still showing in various theaters but I probably won't see it until it's out in other media.
This Friday is the premiere of the newest installment of the Resident Evil series, The Final Chapter. Another action flick to be sure which is following the release of the game, Resident Evil [7] Biohazard, either today or tomorrow. Once again Milla Jovovich has the role of Alice while Ali Later is back with the role of Claire.
