I've always been obsessed with the notion that a Reyne of Castamere survived the Lannister obliteration. IMO the most likely character to be a Reyne is Petyr Baelish, because it explains so many of his motives.
I know all about the timeline, believe me. But let's talk about this line in the show:
Littlefinger to Cersei: "I'll not rest til the Lion flies over Winterfell."
This is immediately after Petyr tells Cersei that Sansa is in Winterfell and he is selling her out - and he wants to be Warden of the North in reward.
If Petyr became Warden of the North/Lord of Winterfell, the Lannister Lion would not be the banner that flies, it would be Petyr's banner. If not the mockingbird, why then the lion?
Obvs because the sigil of the Reynes is a Lion.
Petyr = Reyne. BOOM!

Still like this idea...if not for the age problem it would be my #1 "Littlefinger real identity" theory. Although, I think we discussed there's ANOTHER way he could be a lion, a way that resolves the birthdate conundrum.

I think we discussed there's ANOTHER way he could be a lion, a way that resolves the birthdate conundrum. Can you revive the thread where we talked about that please? I'm certain GRRM has a secret Reyne up his sleeve. The song is way too important in both the books and the show. And I hear you. Who else could it be? I've heard Bronn thrown around but that's not on my raydar.

It was in the Petyr Baelish thread, I think. I can C&P it here, but it doesn't deal with LF being a Reyne...
