Does anyone watch this? I've only been watching recently, so I can see the Premiere tonight, but it seems like a really well-written show/story. Has anyone read all the books? I read the books. They are really good.I loved them though I thought I never would. But if you read them you won't regret. There are agonizing parts and parts of great controversies.

I get that part, but don't you think it's quite a leap? How would Claire even get curious about Roger's lineage enough to look up his family tree, and then deduce that because he's an orphan that he's a descendant of another orphan? I think the tv show made it seem as if Roger himself is a time traveler and that HE is Geillis and Dougall's orphan son! I have a feeling that the Rev Wakefield and his wife are from the past, that they are the people that adopted Geillis and Dougall's son and took him to the future through the stones to protect him. Yeah, I do think it's a leap, but one that somehow will tie back to something important. I've not read the books, so that's just my impression. I'll agree with you as well that there's a strong possibility that Roger actually is Geillis Duncan's son. Dougal somehow managed for her not to burn as a witch after she gave birth to her son. There's also the strange coincidence of Roger's 'father' having disappeared from his airplane close to some standing stones on Samhain. So if both Geillis and his father can travel, I think the odds of Roger being the child Geillis bore are quite high. Roger actually isn't Gellis and Dougal's son.Let me put it this way that character will come in later on and it will be a twist.....Boy is it a freaking twist.

The part I didn't catch, or maybe they didn't explain, is how Roger Wakefield from 1968 is related to Geillis Duncan and Dougal MacKenzie. I did find it humorous that before Geillis is the be burned at the stake she says, "guess I'm going to a fucking barbecue!" and then when Roger is with Brianna and Claire at the stones and they smell Geillis's dead husband's burning corpse Roger says, "it smells like a fucking barbecue!" lol, I didn't catch that! I'm guessing as they dig more into what happened to Jamie they'll find out more about Roger? Since Jamie killed his ggggggrandfather (?) and all. I think there's a lot to come for Roger. I also don't get how Frank Randall, the descendant of Alex Randall's baby with Mary looks exactly like his brother Black Jack? Think I missed something there too. Even in the books the resemblence of the men in Frank's family was said to be strong.Very strong.Jamie in the book almost killed Alex the first time he saw him.

Sorry for the multiple post I am on my phone. My favorite character in the story and I couldn't wait for his intro was John Grey. That was the last episode I saw before I left so I am hoping they keep true to the character relationship to Jamie.
I found that relationship and interaction in the books better than Jamie and Claire.Claire in the show and in the books can come off as a bit motherly with Jamie and a bit of a prude.
"look at me,I'm from the future and I know some stuff."
She got on my nerves sometimes.

The books are on my list, although I'll probably end up listening to the audio version. Jaime is growing on me. At first I thought the actor looked like a cartoon character, but I'm beginning to see the appeal.

The actor that plays him(Sam Heughan) is very good. But physically I find he doesn't fit Jamie's description.Way to muscular and broad in the chest.Jamie was very very tall Ofcource but he was me an muscular.

I've noticed that in the last few episodes Clare has flashes of the future when she remembers something from the past...if that makes sense. She'll have a premonition, but technically it's a memory, because it's already happened for her. Do you know what I mean? She's from the 1940's-1960's, so anything that has happened 200 years ago she would already "know", so when she's in the past in the 1760's she "knows" what's about to happen, although she may not recognize it as a "memory" per se. She wonders what it means, and only later on realizes after it's already happened that she did remember it first.
Long story short, I think George is doing this technique in his books as well.

NICE! My head hasn't been in ASOIAF lately but I can see where you're going with this. Was a decent season, I enjoyed it. I started to wonder if Catriona has a couple drinks before the nude scenes because her entire personality changes. She's up for a Golden Globe, was just announced.

The only thing I’m wondering about is Geillis. If Clare kills her in 1760, would she exist in 1960-something?

Yes, she'd still be born in 1940 or whenever she was born - as long as her ancestors weren't killed - and things would proceed as we've seen them. But if Clare was able to prevent her from ever travelling back, say by leaving her a letter and making sure Geillis gets it in 1960, that could change a whole bunch of stuff back in 1762. Geillis would never have a baby who is (ancestor of?) Roger MacKenzie as one example. Or Geillis would not have "saved" Clare from burning as a witch. It's sort of how I see Bran the Timelord - we're seeing the last iteration. There could have been many (say, a thousand) other ways his life played out (and affected other people's lives) but the story we're reading is about the final version of his life. Which makes your observation awesome

Do you think the way George is handling Bran in a similar way to Clare? Is his current life like Clare's 1960's life and then the weirwood trees are like Clare's stone portals and he actually lived all those lives in the past?

Absolutely, except that Bran doesn't need to physically travel. He skinchanges through time, and that's how he lived his thousand lives in the Cave. It's the whole basis of my BtT thing. And yes, we're seeing Bran's last life.
