He got his throat cut, so I’m assuming he will lose the ability to speak? (to speak properly at least) Like you see Catelyn as Lady Stoneheart, she speaks in a voice the reader/the other characters can’t understand save for one or two. This makes her look formidable and creepy, and anyone who comes back to life pays a price.
•Daenerys blood sacrificed her child and husband
•Beric Dondarrion loses a part of himself, his memories every time
•Catelyn lost her voice, seeks vengeance and probably one of her children to crown (she possesses robb’s crown)
Jon died after his speech and plan to save Winterfell and fArya. I have a few options in mind,
- He could lose his voice to a degree, but this will affect his communication poorly if he hopes to take back Winterfell, and continue to be in the game. As for the war that is yet to come, fight with the Others, if he hopes to win Daenerys and dragons to his side —or what is more a romance, marriage angle— this will prove to be worthless given his ability as a diplomat without a speech. I mean I cannot imagine both falling in love or a political marriage with this given situation.
- He won’t lose his voice whatsoever, but only his memory might start to fade. Either he forgets who even Arya was, and accepts fArya as his sister, or, he forgets most of his life except what he thought at the very end— Ghost and Arya. He might even became obsessed with it and might seek vengeance like Lady Stoneheart.
- He comes out fine, nothing unusual except being reborn with new identity as a dragon, a savior, Melisandre’s new Azor Ahai. Though this idea seems like Gandalf the White, which I don’t like very much.
What are your thoughts? I’ve found this forum recently and love the discussions very much. I was amazed by Ghost being the “horn of winter” metaphor and how he’ll howl and wake the sleepers.
I always thought of Ghost’s quietness (or muteness) as Jon’s future self. No one hears him except for Jon, so I think when he comes back to life no one will be able to hear Jon except Bran and Arya.
