A throwback on a soundtrack. I ran into an old friend who brought up Radiohead. Which led to some conversations which led to songs from the adaptaion, Romeo + Juliet.

The entire soundtrack, a song at a time, would be too much here (and i dont like some of those songs as much as i did back in the day) so I will finish up with one more. For this one I chose a live recording with good audio.

A newish movie on HBO this weekend, Me and Earl the the Dying Girl. Meh. Overly precious. Anyway the soundtrack was almost 100% Brian Eno and it practically kicked me in the head. I'd forgotten what an unique artist he is, and how influential. Seriously, any of these songs could have been recorded in an indie studio in Brooklyn yesterday. As a bonus, the soundtrack had some Lou Reed and Wagner too.
This was in the movie. Originally recorded in 1975. I'll Come Running by Brian Eno
Also in the movie, glorious instrumental called The Big Ship

This may not count as a film score, but the music in Poldark is fantastic. I'm pretty sure Weasel Pie has watched the series. Can't remember if he liked it though. One of Demelza's many songs -- Medhel an GwynsAnd the theme song to Poldark is mesmerising.

Thank you for sharing them. I love "costume/period" dramas. Haven't seen "Poldark" yet myself though. (I do remember the old series from what...the 70's or 80's? LOL)

If you can catch up before the new season starts, all the better. In other news, Season Three (and final season) of The Leftovers isn't supposed to grace our small screens until 2017. Which is disappointing. Anyway, in Season Two (other than the writing improving exponentially) a new theme song was introduced that I really should put over in the ear-worm thread, but since it's a TV theme song... Compare this to the pretentious crap opening from Season One and it's pretty obvious how important a theme song can be:

LOL) LOL I remember the older series as well. The one from the 70s was played on BBC for ages as reruns. Have a look on Amazon for Poldark, it should be there and free. I have the first series already so I've not bothered to watch it through them, but it came up on my recommended TV shows. Heh, I guess we watch a lot of period dramas in our house. I recently rewatched the 80s mini series of Pride & Prejudice. Forgotten how true to the books that one was.
