Who will sit the Iron Throne by the end of the series?
Will anyone?

I think the ruler on the Iron Throne will be someone whom we haven't thought of yet. I don't think Dany will even come to Westeros. She's destined to fulfill a role that is the opposite of Jon Snow. He'll take care of the threat from ice, and she'll take care of the threat from fire. I think we'll see an end to Houses Lannister and Baratheon. Maybe a Stark will claim the throne as Ned should have once so long ago. And the likeliest candidate is probably....hmm, I'll have to think about it!

Even though I picked that no one will sit the Iron Throne because it and King's Landing will be destroyed, doesn't mean I don't think no one will rule the land of Westeros.
I agree with Melifeather, the King or Queen to rise up from the ashes or ice that will be Westeros, is going to be someone we've not given much credit to.
My favourite choices for King or Queen are Davos or Arya as ruler. Mainly because it lines up with that old saying of having greatness thrust upon someone. Neither of them want the trappings of Court life and neither of them wants or feels especially qualified to rule. But both of them know what it is to have no power over their lives and understand how the common folks live and die because of what a ruler says and does.

Even though I picked that no one will sit the Iron Throne because it and King's Landing will be destroyed, doesn't mean I don't think no one will rule the land of Westeros. I could see King's Landing being destroyed but an individual gaining control of some of the Kingdoms. One of my pet theories is that the seven kingdoms will break up and be divided against each other.

I don't know about the Lannister line becoming extinguished. I think Tyrion will still be around to continue the Lion House. Maybe even a king. Baratheon, maybe. Edric Storm could, in theory, become the Ruler of the Stormlands by the end of the storyline. A Storm King. He might be AAR for all I know.
I agree that there will be seperate rulers of Westeros. I don't see one King (or Queen) to rule them all in the future.

I voted Aegon (fake or real). But who knows? I really think the Targs are just Johnny-Come-Latelies to Westeros. In the 12,000 year history of humans living in Westeros, the Targs are but a blip on the timeline. The notion that the throne of Westeros belongs to them by bloodright (as Viserys claims, early in AGOT) is quite laughable.

A related question to this I guess is does anyone think that House Stark will be extinguished by the end of the series? I know it would be sad but it wouldn't surprise me,

I know it would be sad but it wouldn't surprise me, That would be a really sad ending, IMO. George will at least leave us one Stark alive, maybe just to be lord over a destroyed and empty Winterfell, but there's gotta be a Stark. Unless, in this new world that men are building, where there is no room for lions and unicorns and children of the forest, there is likewise no room for the magical Stark family. Dangit, PoG, now you have me thinking of plausible scenarios where George writes them all out.

A related question to this I guess is does anyone think that House Stark will be extinguished by the end of the series? I have always suspected that part of the "bittersweet" ending will be the total extinction of the two houses of greatest magical representation: Stark and Targaryen. Pax Planetos will come about and the world will be in balance once again, but at the cost of the lines of these two families. Or, if not the total extinction of the Houses themselves, the extinction of the magic that accompanies them.

And since WF is in ruins, who better to rebuild the heating system that's spewing the hot water through broken walls, than Tyrion, the man that got all the drains working efficiently at Casterly Rock?

I voted no-one.
I foresee the splitting of the kingdoms and one of the dragons will melt the Iron Throne, possibly Dany on the basis of if she can't have it, no-one can.

This is complicated for me to answer because i'm coming at this on two fronts.
First,i think there will be no iron throne or should i say the rule of the kingdom will be left in the hands of the people. The rule of the Monarchs will be no more and seeing as i see more wildlings surviving the ideology of "following the man" will be the status quo.A more or less democratic system will emerge i think when it comes to politics.
My mantra has been "there's more thaone throne to sit and it aint all human." That being said i believe the seasons, how it turns will have a monarch(s) as it should be and Jon Snow will sit one or the throne in that regard.

I don't think the iron throne or kingslanding will exist. But I go back to GoT when Jon meets Tyrion and sees his shadow, tall as a king. I think Sansa will be the only surviving Queen.
