Love this collage. It highlights the larger themes of Game of Thrones. I especially appreciated the references to the wheel of time.

An Epic Publishing Story"Calculations say Martin has killed 3,717 characters in the series – so far – and Johnson believes that Martin has written more than 1.8m words in A Song of Ice and Fire. “He works so damn hard,” she said. “ That’s more like 18 books’ worth of published words by most other writers’ standards. Not bad going in 23 years of working on this series.”

“He works so damn hard,” she said. “ That’s more like 18 books’ worth of published words by most other writers’ standards. Not bad going in 23 years of working on this series.” This would be a strong argument if making the books that long were some sort of external requirement -- perhaps because the fans demanded it. But only GRRM decided to make them so incredibly long. And the fans by and large seem to think AGOT/ACOK (which were shorter) were better than the last two books (which were longer).
