Well there is something about the Targaryens having a connection to the Children. I think they were brought or encouraged to come to Westeros as guardians.

And wouldn't you just know it, there's a Marvel theory about that! The follow-up segment to the Celestials is going to be about the Eternals and the Deviants, and THAT leads into the sub-race of the Kree, which leads into something really, really freaking awesome. You guys will love it. If I can ever get to it.

You guys will love it. If I can ever get to it. Here are some additional thoughts and how I'm working King Bob into all this. The Targaryens were brought in to "temper" the Andals. The Children were fine with the humans having their own faith...it was actually what they wanted. It kept humans from abusing magic, but the Andals were fanatics and if left unchecked they were doing too much damage. I think Jon Arryn and Robert in turn are fervent Faith practitioners and what they did was on behalf of their religion, and the guinea feather that Robert left for Lyanna was symbolic. Guinea Fowl are symbolically used in ancient depictions in religious carvings as defenders of the faith. There is still a war being waged between the Andals and the Children that the Targaryens were supposed to be waging on the Children's behalf. Robert is the Smith of the Seven.

Interesting. I'll be curious as to what you think after reading the Marvel continuations. When they happen. High level, there are indeed some splintered factions (both involving skinchanging to a certain degree) within the early races, one of which becomes caretaker of another threatened to extinction. There's a lot of alliances and betrayals going on from the beginning of days until present time, and this particular origin story leads into the arc that led me to take on this project in the first place. It's absolutely fantastic but it's also a fuckton of work, which is why I haven't been able to dump it yet. It's coming though, and it will be awesome.

Random gratuitous dump: Recall that upthread I pegged Rhaegar as the counterpart to Thor, but also mentioned that Dany shares a huge part of the overall Thor arc/character traits/backstory? Something that makes perfect sense if Dany is in fact Rhaegar's daughter instead of sister, or his reincarnated 2.0 version or whatever? Well, while digging around for some Stan Lee quotes relevant for a different thread, I stumbled upon this one attributed to Thor. Ring any bells? Anyone? Bueller?

The continuation that was promised I'm as bad as George at this point. I've got a few sections put together, but nothing in postable form yet. Once this stupid renovation stuff is out of my life, along with my houseguests here in a couple weeks, I will have time to work on it. I really, really, really want to get it posted before TWOW/Season 7 to see if some of the plot arcs play out!
