I will briefly interrupt talk of dragon-pigs to mention the odd non-mention of Randyll Tarly during the latter half of the Rebellion.
Randyll, of course, led the charge at the Battle of Ashford and secured what was really the only decisive victory for the crown during the Rebellion. Mace takes the credit for it, but Randyll was the man with the van who made it happen. Randyll Tarly prevents Robert from stopping the Tyrell breach into the western flank of the Stormlands - his vanguard overran Robert's forces, forced Robert to retreat and regather with the rebels in the north, and opened the route for Mace to march and lay siege to Storm's End.
So all this ingeniousness, yet Randall Tarly disappears from the scene after Ashford. He doesn't go to Storm's end, he doesn't regroup on any other fronts in the Reach, and there's no mention of him fighting at the Trident that I know of. It's like he just...went back home. Perhaps to be present for the birth of his 'son' in early 283.

A few other things plinking around in my head.
Randyll warns Sam he's going to have a hunting accident if he doesn't agree to leave and take the Black. We have a huge (ha) precedent in the book for getting rid of a ruler by staging a hunting accident. Robert was also fat, and was killed by what is essentially a feral pig.
Historically, hunting accidents were totally a thing, especially amongst rules and heirs to the throne.
The most famous example is King William II (William Rufus), son of William the Conqueror (the Bastard, first Norman King of England). William II died in a "hunting accident" while out with his brother Henry, who would go on to become the next King, Henry I.
Heh.

The show last night helped me out quite a bit The show obliterated House Martell... except they did not. There is one surviving member... Samwell Aegon Tarly.

Coldhands’ last words to Sam were, "Let the world believe the boy is dead. We want no seekers coming after us. Swear it, Samwell of the Night’s Watch. Swear it for the life you owe me."

The show helped you further the week before last too... When Sam is telling Gilly about his home, he says 'My father is... ...not my father. My mother and sisters are etc Or something like that, I can't remember the whole quote. But the important bit is there!

I thought Sam said, "My father is...well, my father..." No matter. I think Sam is reversing somebody's travels. We were talking about the wheel of time running in reverse, so if Sam is traveling to Oldtown with a mother, babe, and a maester. This may be himself returning to where he originated? Only, he would have left from a port on the east side of Dorne, like Plankytown or the Weeping Town and gone north. If Sam was the babe, then he switches with the maester. Sam is going there to be a maester, and in the past a maester helped him leave.

Yup, I can't find the clip, I thought I posted it here in the thread... he says "My father is... not my father. But my mother is kind..." Yes, something like that And more shots of his face lit by firelight/candlelight on the boat too.

Sam, Gilly, Mance's son, and Maester Aemon went by horse and wagon to Eastwatch took a ship to Braavos Maester Aemon dies in Braavos Intends to sail to Oldtown then take Gilly and Mance's son to Horn Hill
What's the reverse? "Mance's son" was taken to Horn Hill "Gilly" and "Maester" go to Oldtown (or "Gilly" picks up a maester at Oldtown) secures passage on ship to Braavos "Maester" dies in Braavos "Gilly" goes where?

I'm just in shock that there does seem to be a plausible way to get Rhaegar to the Wall. Do you think Ashara gave her life so that Rhaegar could live? This would be very symbolic of Nissa Nissa. I personally like this symbolism since the wheel is moving in reverse and it may actually be the event that reversed the wheel in the first place.

You may have already discussed this, but Lord Mooton is marrying his eldest daughter to Randyll Tarly's son, Dickon. Myles Mooton was one of Rhaegar Targaryen's squires. So if House Tarly and House Mooton are this strongly allied, that might be proof that Rhaegar Targaryen likewise had a friendship with Randyll.

I just thought of something...what if Nissa Nissa was both Ashara and Lyanna? Both sacrificed for Rhaegar to be resurrected in a fire and blood ritual. Would jumping off the tower need to be included as in Ashara jumped and Lyanna was slain?
