Tyrion talks about wanting to ride a dragon when he was young, min , so wouldn't that be canon? I suppose. I'm only objecting to the treatment of his character on the show. Another separate thought though... passing beneath the shadow is equivalent to Patchface's under the sea. At one point, Varys says to himself "waves crash overhead, put I keep paddling along". He's under the sea. Is he a drowned man?

They were out of the blue but so was the Tyrion Dragon Whisperer scene. That really irritated me. LOL! It is so cliché too. Here comes our quasi-hero to save the day! Varys' performance is brilliant though. His facial reactions are exactly what the audience is thinking. A huge WTF!? Why!? to Tyrion's actions. And again, the dialogue. 'If I ever want do something like that again, punch me in the face.' Really? That's the best a team of writers can come up with for that scene's end?

The hinge had to have been opened after the Rebellion, because the past wasn't changed...only the future. I love Patchface's ditty about the mermen eating starfish soup. I'm thinking the mermen are either the Nights Watch or the wildlings...probably more so the wildlings since they live in the sea, and the "star" fish...star makes me think of starry eyes, so I think the starfish are the Others, so then the starfish soup is the dish they are serving.
