Max also makes it clear that Bran can't change the past... or does he? Seems to me Bran is learning he can indeed affect the past, and Max is trying to dissuade him. Yeah, that's one thing they've done right. The same ambiguity is in the books. BR tells Bran the past can't be changed, the past has already been written. If the past can hear you, then it would imply the past can change. Look at what Ned did, he paused and turned because he hear something, when he was on an urgent flight up the stairs to find out who was screaming. That simple pause right there might be the difference between life and death to someone.

And where the hell did Howland go after the fight was done? Why is Ned steaming up those stairs alone when Bran calls out to him?

I wonder if Howland stabbing Arthur in the back is supposed to make us draw a parallel with Jaime and Aerys? They reminded the audience of this just last week.
Also. thinking about last week, Jon never "opened his eyes" on the next world.

Also, the "Oathbreaker" title got me to thinking about inversions and secret babies and all that, and two things came to mind. First, Ned's "shame" when thinking of Jon while down in the Black Cells, his "old guilts", etc. Second, Maester Aemon's speech to Jon about family loyalty, with love being the bane of honor and death of duty. I'm starting to wonder if this is a hint that Ned abandoned his duty in some fashion - he had to choose between love and honor, and he chose love. For example, he had sworn to protect someone associated with the crown, but failed to do so by protecting his own instead. The heart in conflict with itself...Ned chooses selfishly and feels badly for it for the rest of his days. I'm pretty sure that this involves a coin toss between Jon and Dany. Did you watch the behind the scenes video that min posted? They basically said they wanted to show that Ned wasn't as honorable as we thought he was, so they are setting up some type of dishonor or oathbreaking or something.

The whole thing with AD wishing Ned luck in the wars to come (after it was clarified that Aerys and Rhaegar were already dead) makes me even more convinced that the scene in the tower is related to blood magic. Whatever it was, it wasn't pretty. Something wicked in the tower would certainly explain why Bloodraven was so insistent on Bran NOT seeing it. Interesting that the TOJ scene was preceded by Jon, "the prince that was promised", but then is followed by Dany, Mother of Dragons. Maybe we'll get twins after all! Why blood magic or something wicked?

Something occurs to me. Considering the story changes - Davos at the Wall on the show instead of heading to Skagos to look for Rickon in the books - Davos and Rickon are meant to meet up for some important reason.
I'll just keep telling myself that Rickon is safe for that reason.

Why blood magic or something wicked? Because "Aunt Lyanna giving birth to a royal bastard" shouldn't be a big deal to a greenseer-in-training. Why would BR insist he doesn't see what's in that tower?

Or Rickson and Osha are already dead in the books. I remember reading what a shaggy dog take was on Wikipedia and I'm not surprised if it will turn out similar to that. A story about nothing or a story that is pointless. I know I'm so optimistic.

I know, I thought the same, possibly, but the saving grace was GRRM saying how impressed he was with Natalia Tena, and she inspired him to expand Osha's role in the books. ...I hope that extends to Ramsay not torturing Rickon. I also cringed when Smalljon Umber (!!!!!) implied that someone... Harald Karstark?... liked young boys. Yeah, no.

Maybe there's a plot unfolding?

I cringe as well especially since they burnt poor Shireen; I'm not sure how far they will go with Rickon. I see Ramsey sticking Rickon in the Kennels since he needs a new Reek. Shaggy Dog is gone and Rickon needs a new Shaggy. So sending the dogs on a hunt after Osha might be the end of Ramsey. I can only hope. Blood magic for what purpose though? I do recall that Ned's ghost told Bran something about Jon in a dream which he couldn't remember upon waking. Also, wondering if that memory was deliberately blocked like his vision of the golden man.

In the books on Skagos Rickon and Osha could have already be killed and eaten since the Skagosi are known cannibals. I doubt Osha and Rickon will live past this season.

I don't know...when I read ADWD I was under the impression that when Theon and fArya jumped, the Umbers caught them, delivered them to Stannis, and then are waiting outside the gates of Winterfell. So, shouldn't we expect the Umbers to double-cross Ramsay somehow? I think they're combining the Umbers and Manderlys on the show, since in the books the Umbers were on the outside and the Manderlys were on the inside, and I was expecting them to get rid of Ramsay.
