Coldhand and Lady Stoneheart are easily identified as former corpses, and of course both were jettisoned for the show. Perhaps the closest analog is Beric, outside of his wounds, he didn't appear as corpse-like, perhaps because he was resurrected so soon after he died. I don't remember if show Beric had the flammable blood like book Beric did. It will be interesting to see if they give that trait to Jon. As Min said, in the show he does light his sword on fire by slicing his palm. The interesting thing is that whenever he's brought back, the wounds that caused his death each are healed. There is scar tissue on his eye, his neck and his chest, accounting for 3 of his 6 deaths at the time that Mel meets him. I think you're right about the exclusion of Coldhands and Lady Stoneheart due to them being reaminated corpses. It would be too confusing for the Unsullieds to see the difference between them and the wights. OTOH, Beric, with his healed wounds seems more a like someone whose never died, just been in a coma state and healed, then re-awoken.

I was looking at the promo video for next week. Check out that tree behind Bran. Are those tombstones? Is this supposed to be Bran's vision of the heart of winter? .22 www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ5QtQ59Nc8That tree is immense! And those are definitely grave stones. I guess it could be the heart of winter. But why are the wights facing the tree? Are they going to attack the Children of the Forest?

What she does in the show to resurrect Jon, is awfully similar to how book Melisandre describes casting a glamor: Definitely. I thought I brought up that quote in the previous episode thread but it was at a different site that I did so. The writers might have had this in mind for Mel's scene. The fingerbones, Davos. A dead man's boots, Arya. The hank of hair was not to sure of, maybe the Archmaester's that Pate finds. But we get Jon in the show. That would be interesting if Mel is creating Jon-the prince-who was-promised through sorceries. Your thoughts about dark Jon and him being spit into dark and light could work in with Melisandre's meddling.

Jon's resurrection looks too much like Faceless Man ritual to rule that magic out. Also a lot of Melisandre's early dialogue about the gods is surprisingly similar to what Arya hears from Jaqen and the priests in the temple. I think there are connections to the HoB&W and the magic involved with the wall's construction. Melisandre says that she is more powerful at the wall; that even her word is more powerful. There was healing of his body involved and he still feels pain. Beric has to be similar if he can be killed several times over. I think magic is magic...just two ways of using it...like the stairsteps you described as being both weirwood and ebony black.

The interesting thing is that whenever he's brought back, the wounds that caused his death each are healed And Jon's don't look healed. He even almost sticks his fingers in them and winces. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I didn't mean to imply that it was the same tree in which Bran finds Bloodraven. I meant why are they attacking a tree? There must be something inside or beneath that tree too. I'm thinking there's another group of Children of the Forest beneath there as well.
And yes the gravestones do look rather sharp, don't they. I agree that could be what Bran saw in his coma dream and now is visiting through the weirnet. Could account for why Meera's having a hard time getting him to wake up. He's stuck there because it's what he saw originally and is starting to piece things together.

Maybe the stones are warding the tree?

Observations:
Jon and Sansa don't talk about Bran. Sansa knows Rickon may be alive thanks to Theon (confirmed by Ramsay), suspects Bran is also alive I suppose. Jon heard about Bran from Sam (which was an odd decision by D&D).
Why didn't Sansa say... Theon didn't kill them. Then Jon could say, Sam met Bran on his way North. Didn't happen.
Jon also could have planned to head North after ending his Watch, to find Bran. Didn't happen.
Sansa says to Jon "You are the son of the last true Warden of the North" which can be taken a few ways! Was Ned? Was Roose the last true Warden? Or was someone else the last "true" Warden? She also skips over a discussion of Bran and Rickon as the next in line for the position.

Didn't happen I got the sense that this was implied, like their conversation seemed to indicate that she had told him off camera.
