BTW....some enterprising soul in cyberspace grabbed a screenshot of Sansa's letter. Unfortunately the grab did not reveal from where the mystery seal came, but it DID show the contents of the letter! “Lord Baelish,
You swore to protect me. You failed. Now you have a chance to fulfill your promise. The knights of the Vale are under your command. Ride for Winterfell and lend us your aid and I shall see to it that you are rewarded." excellent, I love when people have way too much time on their hands I found this pretty incredible catch over at reddit. I haven't had a chance to dig too deep but... SERIOUSLY THIS MIGHT BE A HUGE SPOILER SO DON'T CLICK TIL THE SEASON IS DONE apparently the music that plays when Sandor finds the slaughtered parishioners is the music associated with Brienne and Catelyn, and Brienne's pledge to Cat.
Which means that the killers were sent by Lady Stoneheart, and we may yet see her. Brienne is heading to the Riverlands, near Jaime, after all.

On a rewatch, don't click this spoiler The men that kill Brother Ray and his people are... no doubt in my mind... Lady Stoneheart's BwB and Lem Lemoncloak.
The men ride up to them right after Ray tells a story about killing a son while the mother screamed his name. Robb and Cat anyone? It's foreshadowing of the cold vengeance LS dishes out.
Another clue is when they say "the night is dark and full of terrors." The TV audience should remember Beric and Thoros are followers of the Lord of Light, and of course we book readers know how LS was resurrected.
Done deal, LS is back.

Why kill Brother Ray and his people then?
They weren't Freys were they? I thought Beric's men, and later LS's were for the common people?

I get that, but the show is trying to depict LS as ruthlessly vengeful, will probably slaughter innocents getting revenge for the Red Wedding. The clincher is the story - mother screaming for her son while he is murdered in front of her eyes - and the BwB showing up immediately after and playing up the Lord of Light. It doesn't matter if Ray had remorse, just as it might not matter if any Frey, or Lannister or anyone else shows remorse. LS is vengeance. At least that's how the show is playing it. I don't expect things to be the same as they were in the book, either with the BwB or Lem or LS. But she's coming

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the show is depicting fan theories?

Why kill Brother Ray and his people then? Maybe to draw the Hound out? He's going to be out for revenge now, so he'll track the BwB back to wherever they are staying, be it the same place or somewhere else. If it is LS that's there, she'll want to know what happened to her daughter and maybe enlist him to her side. If she's pure vengeance now, who better than the Hound as your champion.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the show is depicting fan theories? like... RLJ? *sighs* I supposed we have to be resigned that this is likely...at least on the show. Let them glory in their hollow victory! GRRM will not write it that way! Did you guys watch the video I inserted in A Song of Ice and Fire News? It highlights the over arching themes of the show.
