Question: Coldhanded Benjen reminds us of the Wall's magic, and tell us he can't pass. But Bloodraven told Bran that the Wall was no longer a barrier to the NK because he touched Bran during wibbly wobbly timey wimey time. So... what gives? What kind of ward would apply to Coldhands but not the Night's King? This is rhetorical really. The answer is probably that D&D screwed up by introducing Coldhands after Bran's tardisEncounter with the NK, instead of establishing Coldhand's problem passing the wall well before Bran even learns to ski the weirnet. Yep they effed up,but i think they figure we gave them some really cool CGI,"confirmed" some major fan theories for them so its all good. Also, the deliberate muffling of LyannaBaby name is telling. If Jon is meant to be a Targaryen and the show has already dropped all the Rhaegar connections, why not just reveal a Targ name to help viewers piece it together?? Unless..... 1) it isn't a Targaryen name or 2) it's a Targaryen name that will trigger another dastardly revelation, the third "holy shit" moment. My thing is i don't think they know because GRRM didn't tell them. They muffled it just enough to have people arguing until the next book.At this point i don't think they care if they are wrong or right.Martin has made it clear the show is their baby the books are his soooooo. We'll see what he comes out with.Hopefully we get it at the end of the year or i will eventually stop caring about this shit. This is ridiculus now.

The closer HBO gets to providing "an" ending to the story, the more leverage GRRM's publishers will have to tell him to put up or shut up. Besides, as much ribbing as he's been getting since his Jan 1 mea culpa blog post, eventually even that is going to stop because it's just not a funny joke anymore. It's just sad, and he will forever be known as "the guy who was too lazy to finish one of the greatest fantasy series of all time". But hey, there's always Wild Cards!

My personal note to George....forget TWoW and just release ADoS instead. I think I pretty much have the gist of it. On second thought...okay I'll read TWoW. Then grow older by 5 years.....and then read ADoS. So that could be my 2021 Christmas present. Maybe 2020 if I'm a really, really good boy.

Geez i don't think i could handle another long wait.I'm not sure GRRM could afford to wait that long wait either. It is my hope that ADOS would be eaiser once WOW is out of the way.Things maybe a bit clearer for him.

You have to hand it to HBO...their special effects are stellar...just spectacular.

Even more proof that these people don't know Jack. So what the hell happened to Cersie and Tyrion? Why the frack doesn't Robert have a crown, when people who have been dead long before he died are made sure to be labled "The royal family."They forgeting the Targs got their asses kicked and are no longer "The royal family." Who the frack would sit down and make a chart like this and why? What's the point?

Why the frack doesn't Robert have a crown, when people who have been dead long before he died are made sure to be labled "The royal family."They forgeting the Targs got their asses kicked and are no longer "The royal family." Who the frack would sit down and make a chart like this and why? What's the point? The answer to most of your questions, wolfmaid7 , is that this graphic supposedly reflects the relationships between key players " at that moment in GoT history," when Ned " made his way to Dorne and found the Tower of Joy." But you have to read the fine print a bit to get that. Obviously HBO's not going out of its way to do the sensible thing. Clearly labeling its graphic, for instance. Or including the phrase "Tower of Joy" in the article header. We just get this: So... just like all of the tower of joy related stuff... the "relationships" in this diagram are assigned far more importance than they deserve. Since " that moment in GoT history" brings together certain storylines that fans find fascinating, the scene comes pre-loaded with so much potential significance that most readers simply cannot see past it (or around it) in their assessment of character identities and plots. Which, of course, is exactly why it's been so helpful to Martin (and perhaps now HBO) for obscuring certain secrets. It's sort of like a solar flare in the narrative - scrambling fan interpretations the way solar radiation jams radio frequencies and power line transmissions. A brief eruption of intense high-energy narrative potential that leaves us wondering what we missed in that moment, and doubting whether the rest of the story can be relied upon without it. So we obsess over filling that gap, and assign it as much importance as we imagine it could bear. (How important could it possibly be? Let's assume it's that important!) Meanwhile, with our attention diverted... we miss and minimize other subtle (but crucial) things Martin's been carefully building all along in this complex, polyphonic Song of Ice and Fire.
