Yeah, but since I no longer have regular television I won't be able to watch it until it hits PBS streaming channel tomorrow. Unless I can watch live through their online site?

Right so I'm all caught up on this one. Actually I might be ahead of you. WTF is up with Francis? Holy shit, I can't believe he actually tried to kill himself. I'm loving his character this series.
And that trial, what a farce. Jud was brilliant. Love Phil Davis. He's been in everything.
Dude Warleggan is an arsehole of the first order. Looks like the gloves are off with him. Finally!

BTW did you know the guy that plays Francis is from Connecticut?

the guy that plays Francis FRAWNCIS! I laugh every time someone says his name. And no I didn't know that. But he was also in the short-lived You, Me and the Apocalypse, with Jenna Fischer and Rob Lowe... and Megan Mullally who had a swastika carved into her forehead and was none too happy about that as an actress and presumably as a human being. PS I didn't read your spoiler, they've only shown the first episode of season 2 so far.

So I hear people talking about this show - what's the premise? It is love storyish? Is this a kissing show? Do I have to watch the kissing parts?

LOL yeah there's a few love stories involved.
Ross Poldark (Aiden Turner) fought, on the side of England of course, in the American Revolution, leaving behind a betrothed who ends up marrying his cousin FRAWNCIS while he's off warring. He returns to that, and his father's failing mining business. So the shows about him watching out for the well-being of his smallfolk, falling for his scullery maid, dealing with his snooty jealous cousin FRAWNCIS and his (actually very lovely and sympathetic) ex-fiance Elizabeth.
This all takes places on the very picturesque Cornish coast.
One of the best love stories is FRAWNCIS's sister Verity and a ship captain.
It's all very lightweight, the way lots of BBC productions are, but engrossing because of the era and characters.

PS I didn't read your spoiler, they've only shown the first episode of season 2 so far. Oh, no need to worry, I kept it about the first two episodes, which is what PBS actually aired on sunday. They are calling it the first episode but it's really 1 & 2. I'm up to 4 right now, but I didn't say anything about the next two. So you can read the spoiler without getting anything spoiled.

his (actually very lovely and sympathetic) ex-fiance Elizabeth. I'm not entirely sure she is sympathetic as opposed to interested, if you see what I mean? She's fairly kind to Demelza, but I'll never forget Elizabeth's comment to her about how corn flowers fade so quickly from s01. She owes Demelza her entire family's life, but she's not friendly with her the way Verity is. But she is very lovely

Just a couple episodes ahead. The spoiler is only about this episode though. Yes Francis' lucky escape in Bodmor has made him do a complete volte face. I like this new and improved Francis, doubt it's gonna last though, those kind of changes never do. As for Ross I think he's getting more and more bitter at how he keeps trying and failing to keep Wheal Leisure out of Warleggan hands and the bollocks they've put him through, so he's wanting to feel better about himself. I wonder though if Elizabeth did indeed know he was in there alone. Poor Demelza.

Oh and I completely forgot to ask you about Jud and Prudie! I thought Prudie was hysterically funny that whole episode. And Jud's story about only wanting a drink at the pub, meanwhile everyone is running for the hills because they think he's a ghost was brilliant. Only Phil Davis, a veteran of Brit TV, could get away with a 'tell don't show' moment like that because of the way he delivered it. I was crying while he was telling that story, and blasting Prudie for spending all his guineas.

OK I have you two to blame for my puppy crush on Mr Dreamy Poldark. I'm still on season 1, just finished episode 5 where Demelza tells Hot Ross about the baby.

You've got a good journey ahead of you, then. It's not a bad story though, and the other scenery -- Cornwall -- is gorgeous too.
