The costumes in the show are incredible. I thought a thread to celebrate the costume designers and craftspeople is in order. Bonus points if particular details get you thinking! I'd like to start this thread with Sansa's dress from the Tourney of the Hand in Season One. Stark maiden at a Tourney, check. Stark maiden gets special recognition from a dashing victor, check. Nah, no parallels at all between the book and the show. Heh. Anyway, we're missing the... garland of blue winter roses, you say? Now, knowing that D&D would know that blue winter roses are an object of fan scrutiny and a topic that launched a thousand theories, D&D decide to give the nod to this design for Sansa: IMO, this supports the notion that the blue winter roses are not supposed to be associated with a (male) child, but with a Stark maiden, although this is complicated by Dany receiving a blue rose (which has fever-healing properties) from Daario. I have an entire Pinterest board for GoT costumes. They are seriously beyond the pale. Like this:

Or this, a closeup of the embroidery on one of Sansa's dresses. Little bird, indeed. Just amazing. Costume Embroidery & Illustration by Michele Carragher

I was trying to find a better photo of this. Incredible. I love how Joff's breast plate only has lions rampant, not a stag in sight!

Wait, is that Sansa's dress? ETA to clarify, the second dress with all the blue roses I mean That was Margaery's (first) wedding dress. ETA: Or second, technically. Oh hell, I don't know.

Well, remember Renly wished for Margaery to replace Lyanna...hence the symbolic nature of the blue roses.

Love the costumes! They add so much to the show. If you know your history/fashion history, you can also see where they draw historical inspiration from in some of the designs throughout the series.
