Anybody catch this show yet? (Soundbreaking) It's very interesting. I haven't seen it... but now that you've pointed it out, I want to. It looks interesting!

Anybody catch this show yet? (Soundbreaking) It's very interesting. No, but I'd like to. I no longer have any type of TV viewing capabilities. (Don't plan on that changing any time soon.) I see that there is online streaming available, so I might catch some of it there. Internets.

Are you guys familiar with Har Mar Superstar? He's kind of like a singing Ron Jeremy: small in stature, no one's definition of handsome, yet talented and larger than life.

I think you mentioned him once before - and I looked him up. But that video's almost surreal. He looks like Joe Schmo. But that voice, though. Sorta, kinda makes me think of Martin Sexton. Ever heard of him? Doesn't look like a singer, somehow. But does crazy incredible things with his voice.

New Shins album coming out in March!
They released one song, it's not bad. Great lyrics as always.

Not a bad song, kind of commercial. Only sharing it for Sophie's presence.

Sirius Alt Nation has decided that musically it wants 2008-2012 back for some reason, and has been playing a bunch of old stuff like it was all just released yesterday. (I listen mostly to college and Canadian radio and not for what passes as 'alternative' these days, so am a bit out of the loop, but seriously...is there really a dearth of new music right now? What is going on that they need to fill the airwaves with stuff from 6 years ago?)
Anyway, I've been hearing this one a lot, and I still love it.
Also, this was a local Denver band that you've probably never heard of, said the gal who is old enough to be a hipster's mom. The lead singer, Myshel Prasad, is just....omg. They haven't released a new album in years, but they still play here. Just incredible. This one is my fave:

Thinking about old alt music brought to mind this gem, a cover of 90s Pulp song by none other than Captain Kirk himself (with help from the original band, too). It's actually pretty fantastic.

Lana del Rey has a new one out...
I loved her song "Gods and Monsters", which Jessica Lange expertly (IMO) covered in AHS: Freakshow. In fact, I *almost* like Jessica's version better! Something about the tortured German accent, plus WESBENTLEYOHMYGOD...

More Shins, I'm a little disappointed in the new album overall, but this is classic James Mercer

Anyone familiar with the band, Far? Sometime in the 90s, along with three guys from Deftones, Far covered the song Savory by Jawbox and released on an EP. Later Deftones released it on a B-sides album. Well, I heard this over the weekend and had to share. First the Original.
And the cover.
