I'm still back and forth between Ned and Howland yet I can still see Jamie ftw. I'd like to create a new thread for the last page or so of this discussion. The mystery knight is always a good topic.

Not much to go on, there. And really, we never get much information on height in the Stark family... which is remarkable, considering how GRRM goes out of his way to tell us how tall certain characters are. The Baratheon brothers, the Clegane brothers, Hodor, Jaime, Joffrey, Brienne, the Greatjon, Khal Drogo, Victarion, etc. I'm not quite as convinced as you about his height. With the description of Jon, who looks most like a Stark, compared to Robb, there is nothing in it to suggest him being short. Smaller of frame and lithe, doesn't mean short. He could be more of a lanky person, as opposed to a brawny person, of the same average height. Which is not below average height, as the KotLT description suggests. Probably meaningless but Robert Aramayo who plays young Ned is 6ft tall according to Wikipedia.

Good questions. I would think the reason Howland doesn't make it clear who the TKotLF is, is because it's obviously about him. If you see what I mean? Maybe but then again Jojen, the seemingly more thoughtful of the two siblings, is not sure. New thread makes sense to me Maester Flagons

Probably meaningless but Robert Aramayo who plays young Ned is 6ft tall according to Wikipedia. Really? Then how tall is the guy that played Arthur? He made Aramayo look small. Maybe but then again Jojen, the seemingly more thoughtful of the two siblings, is not sure. Yeah, that's why I leave in the possibility that it was Ned. But for the most part I think it was meant to be clear, this is a story of dad's adventures in big wide world. So it stands to reason the story is about him. I think Jojen maybe comparing the fact his father is not an expert jouster to the tale and thinking there's something fishy here. Which would lead naturally to his asking if Bran had heard the story a 100 times because in his mind his dad wasn't capable of doing that without help. But like I've said, there is a good case to built on for Ned.

Really? Then how tall is the guy that played Arthur? He made Aramayo look small. That was my memory too but I wasn't sure. Just checked on Wikipedia and the guy that played Arthur (Luke Roberts) is actually 1cm shorter. Now that would be interesting if they intentionally shot the scene to make Ned look short.

Speaking of Ned's appearance...Jon Snow is said to look more like Ned than any of Ned's other children, save Arya, but when I look at the actor Kit Harrington...quite often if I may insert...he's a nice looking kid...he's so dark that he looks Dornish. Intentional?

Yep that is also an option, although less interesting

Intentional? I've read similar cases that Jon Show resembles Show Robert, particularly the dark frizzy hair. It would certainly put a different slant on the noncanonical scene where Robert visits Lyanna's crypt and leaves the feather Sansa later found.

Yep that is also an option, although less interesting Heh, true! Mind you as Melifeather just said, they picked an actor for Jon Snow that looks very little like Sean Bean, who himself is not particularly tall either. At the very least they could have picked someone with dark hair and blue/grey eyes like Maisy. Neither of which look like each other in any case! Bean is fair haired. Robb's actor is dark with blue/grey eyes. The only other actor in the series to have dark hair and brown eyes is Bran's...And were the hell Sophie (bless her) came from with the ginger blonde, and is nearly as tall as Bean, is beyond all reason. Michelle Farley has auburn hair, not a ginger. More's the pity.

We had already discussed the guinea feather and discovered that guinea fowl were sometimes included in ancient religious relics since the guinea symbolized a defender of the faith...an idea that I had also posited that Robert was actually knowingly working with the Citadel to put an Andal on the Iron Throne, and how he symbolized the Smith of the Seven. IMO Robert was involved with Lyanna's abduction and the guinea feather was an indication that he did what he did for his faith. More discussion about the feather starting with this post.

I can't remember, is the KotLT story told in the show?

I can't remember, is the KotLT story told in the show? Not as I can recall. They used the travelling sequences to form a rivalry between Osha and Meera, so no time for the KorLT story.

I can't remember, is the KotLT story told in the show? Definitely not. Far too detailed and complex for an audience that is now sure Jon's parents are Lyanna and Raygun.
