I've been watching Westworld and i'm loving it so far.I'm glad that it was rolled out as a series instead of a movie. This got me thinking. What blast frim the past in your opinion would make an awesome series today.I have a few,but first on my list is "Logan's run" This show was awesome and i think it could be philosophical.Second,"Screamers"Do you guys remember the blades that ran beneath the Earth. That would be an amazing series.

I think I've seen remakes of all the movies that stand out from my childhood, like the Planet of the Apes movies.
I remember telling a friend about a year or so ago that I couldn't believe no one had thought to do a remake of Westworld...and here it is!
I like the Logan's Run idea. I remember the book more so than the show.
Remember Soylent Green? I recall it was an environmental message about generic food, but it could be retold as genetically modified food.
I also recall Blade Runner with, I think, Harrison Ford and Daryl Hannah? I just remember the strong, blond woman that airbrushed black makeup over her eyes and when she opened them again, how striking blue they were. She did some kind of running, cartwheeling attack...Harrison was a futuristic taxi driver and his car was basically a spaceship.

Classic movie! Carousel! I also recall Blade Runner with, I think, Harrison Ford and Daryl Hannah? She did some kind of running, cartwheeling attack...Harrison was a futuristic taxi driver and his car was basically a spaceship. OK this is one of my all time favorite films. Sebastian the Toy Maker. Rutger Hauer as an android who reaches full sentience. Please don't remake it hahaa BTW Ford is a bounty hunter, actually a "replicant" hunter, not a taxi driver. Maybe you've conflated this movie with Fifth Element and Bruce Willis?

I never saw Soylent Green, but oh do i remember Blade Runner. That was one of my favorites and could do good as a remake if they get the perfect leads and director. It will be hard to out do Rutger though.I loved Lady Hawk and him in it and sa much i would like to see a remake of that,i'm afraid they'll muck that up.

Yeah Logan's Run was just so impacting and it was freaking deep talk about being part of the system until it's your turn to bite the dust.

There isn't much from Hollywood I'd like to see remade, although all the recent JJ Abrams movies do come to mind, as well as Lost seasons 2-finale. But there are many projects Hollywood never pursued that I think could be fantastic if done well. Many of them classics of SF/F, like the Amber series or the Foundation series (which would require substantial rewriting) or even comic projects that Hollywood hasn't tackled and probably never will, like Gaiman's Sandman (which was itself a kind of remake). Westworld seems to be improving somewhat, but I still find the characters a little flat and it's been a while since I saw anything this humorless. Even GRRM pulls out a smooth line every so often -- my favorite involving Tyrion's idea of how he would like to die.

Maybe you've conflated this movie with Fifth Element and Bruce Willis? Quite possible! lol, when you get old like me there's a lot of data stored in my hard drive. Rutger Hauer. It reminds me of the debates we have at work sometimes about who could kick who's ass. Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal, or Jean-Claude Van Damme. Now I can throw Rutger Hauer in the mix!

I am drawing a total blank on potential remakes...because really, what hasn't Hollywood ALREADY remade?? But 1000% agree with this: OK this is one of my all time favorite films. Sebastian the Toy Maker. Rutger Hauer as an android who reaches full sentience. Please don't remake it hahaa Blade Runner = It That Shall Not Be Touched I will reserve judgment on the upcoming Blade Runner: 2049.

In the line of Rutger.I can go for a remake of Ladyhawk.
And how about "The Fly?"
I agree,as much as i would love a Blade runner remake i have a feeling they may muck it up.

Ladyhawke is a great call! How about... Willow. ETA I went on IMBD to see what year Willow was made (1988) and this description sounds familiar A reluctant dwarf must play a critical role in protecting a special baby from an evil queen.

I have no idea on the remakes but I'd love to see some of the classic sci-fi: Rendezvous with Rama, The Mote in God's Eye, Songs of Distant Earth, Legacy of Heorot, to name a few.
