Lyanna overheard a conversation in the underground vaults at Harrenhal, just like Arya did beneath the Red Keep. Arya is our gateway to knowing Lyanna (of whom we know so little). In order to understand Lyanna we must explore Arya and her journey for any signs of parallel experiences.
One of Arya's adventure's is underground, beneath a king's palace/fortress (former kings), where she overhears plotting to bring down a kingdom.
I suspect the conversation was very similar to the one Arya witnessed.
ARYA III
"Too soon, too soon," the voice with the accent complained. "What good is war now? We are not ready. Delay."
"As well bid me stop time. Do you take me for a wizard?" The other chuckled. "No less." Flames licked at the cold air. The tall shadows were almost on top of her. An instant later the man holding the torch climbed into her sight, his companion beside him. Arya crept back away from the well, dropped to her stomach, and flattened herself against the wall. She held her breath as the men reached the top of the steps.
"What would you have me do?" asked the torchbearer, a stout man in a leather half cape. Even in heavy boots, his feet seemed to glide soundlessly over the ground. A round scarred face and a stubble of dark beard showed under his steel cap, and he wore mail over boiled leather, and a dirk and shortsword at his belt. It seemed to Arya there was something oddly familiar about him.
"If one Hand can die, why not a second?" replied the man with the accent and the forked yellow beard. "You have danced the dance before, my friend." He was no one Arya had ever seen before, she was certain of it. Grossly fat, yet he seemed to walk lightly, carrying his weight on the balls of his feet as a water dancer might. His rings glimmered in the torchlight, red-gold and pale silver, crusted with rubies, sapphires, slitted yellow tiger eyes. Every finger wore a ring; some had two.
To further speculate!
I would argue that the conversation might have "rhymed" with what was said under the Red Keep.
Mayhaps it went a little like this...?
"If Hand can die, why not a second [the father can go mad, why not the son]? "You have [I've] danced the dance before, my friend."
Bonus speculation:
I suspect Tywin smuggled himself into Harrenhal and, met with a conspirator (who might be worried that things were running away from them and Tywin needed them to stick to the plan). Their main aim was to discuss bringing down the Targaryens at Harrenhal.
Told you it was crackpot!

I wonder if you realize how much this idea fits in my wheelhouse! LOL I'm a big believer in history repeating itself. I've been promoting the idea of a wheel of time or the idea of some kind of time loop in the story. Something similar to how Dr Strange placed time in a continual loop in order to defeat Dormammu. Brandon Stark is like Dr Strange. Every time a Brandon Stark dies a new one is born and the wheel or time loop is reset. The wheel or time loop was forced into reverse during the life of Ned's brother Brandon. It actually occurred at the Harrenhal Tourney. I have written about this elsewhere so I won't derail your thread here, but I wanted to set a background for my comments here.
So yes, I believe Arya repeated Lyanna's path, although I'm still on the fence as to whether or not Lyanna ever ventured as far south as Kings Landing. We don't have any evidence that she did. The furthest south that we know of is that she attended the Harrenhal Tourney so I've tracked Arya's movements beginning with her residence at Harrenhal. Wait. Hold that thought. I also noticed parallels from when Arya was with Yoren and were attacked at the holdfast on the shore of Gods Eye. When Arya went down that tunnel to escape the fire - that was the very moment that she began mirroring Lyanna's life. And just as things are in a mirror, the reflection is reversed.
...more to come.

Aerys II had 5 Hands during his reign:
1) His first Hand was Tywin Lannister. He served as hand for 19 years from 262-281. Quite an accomplishment. He resigned after one too many slights. He left shortly after Aerys named Jaime to the Kingsguard.
2) Owen Merriweather became Hand after Tywin. He served a single year from 281-282. He was removed and exiled for his failure to contain Robert's Rebellion from breaking out.
3) Jon Connington became Hand after Owen. He too was dismissed after a single year (282-283) and exiled due to losing the Battle of the Bells.
4) Qarlton Chested became Hand after JonCon. He didn't even make it past 283. He resigned over Aerys plan to burn Kings Landing and was subsequently burned alive for it.
5) Wisdom Rossart was Aerys II's last Hand after Qarlton. He was Hand for two weeks after the Battle at the Trident in 283. Jaime Lannister killed him before he could carry out Aerys plan to burn Kings Landing.
Robert Baratheon made his foster father, Jon Arryn Hand and he served 15 years from 283-298. He was poisoned by his own wife at the suggestion of Petyr Baelish in order to prevent Jon Arryn from sending their son to Stannis to foster, and to make way for her to be able to marry him.
Illyrio suggests to Varys that if Jon Arryn can die in office, why not Ned Stark?

Tywin Lannister was a master of subterfuge. He wanted both Aerys and Rhaegar dead, but I'm not convinced Meera's tale was intended to be a literal account of the Harrenhal Tourney. There is allot of symbolism in it so I believe it is more of an allegory. An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. If it were intended as a literal account Meera would have used actual names, but she doesn't. Her story has a dragon prince, a wolf maid, a quiet wolf, a wild wolf, a crannogman, a knight of skulls and kisses, a pitchfork knight, a porcupine knight, a red snake, a lord of griffins, and a maid with laughing purple eyes. Why not come right out and say Rhaegar, Lyanna, Ned, Brandon, Howland, Richard Lonmouth, Leslyn Haigh, Boros Blount, Oberyn Martell, Jon Connington, and Ashara?
