sorry lol. 100% Howland was skinchanged. He asked for it. If Howland as KotlT is actually a mystery knight - Bran in this case, who heard the prayer and took his change to become a Knight... then could he have also leapt into Rhaeger? it would be Bran who named Lyanna (who is so like Arya) as the QoLaB over Elia Martell. Giving myself a crackpot headache.

twining black vines and tiny blue forget-me-nots. a beautiful grey mare, built for speed HOLD THE PHONE. This is Dany drinking Shade of the Evening in the HotU. Shade of the Evening, similar reaction with Dany drinking it as Bran eating weirpaste. Weirpaste from weirwoods red/white. Shade of the evening from the black-wood trees with blue leaves that are outside the HotU - I've talked about this before. Dany and HER SILVER.

bing bing bing Riding a mare sounds like skinchanging a mare bing bing bing Ser Loras's mare-in-heat is a hint that it took something "female" to tip the scales in the KotLT's favor bing bing bing so maybe Lyanna was involved somehow? I had never seriously considered Lyanna as the KotLT before...I lean more towards Howland, but if Lyanna had the wolf blood maybe she skinchanged into Howland and together they were both the KofLT? BING BING BONG BONG WOO WOO Except...I don't think she skinchanged Howland. I think she warged his horse. Remember, per Jaime, a big part of jousting skill is riding..being one with your horse. However, if you aren't necessarily a great rider, but you are riding a well-trained horse that knows what to do and how to move... I have been leaning toward the idea that Lyanna was a warg, but not of wolves. Much like Arya has an affinity for cats, Lyanna's preference was equine. Think of all the horse association we have for her - Harwin talking to Arya about taking after her Aunt Lyanna, Barbrey's "pair of centaurs", etc. Then recall the effort that Ned put in to returning Lord Dustin's great red stallion after the ToJ. Ned dragged this damn horse all the way from Dorne back to Lady Barbrey in Barrowton. Why? Allow me to throw out an option: Cast your mind to MMD's blood magic ritual, which has the TOJ parallel in Drogo's great red stallion. Dany wants to save Drogo's life, and MMD tells her she needs the horse. Mirri Maz Duur smiled. "Only a maegi can save your rider now, Silver Lady."
"Is there no other way?"
"No other."
Khal Drogo gave a shuddering gasp.
"Do it," Dany blurted. She must not be afraid; she was the blood of the dragon. "Save him."
"There is a price," the godswife warned her.
"You'll have gold, horses, whatever you like."
"It is not a matter of gold or horses. This is bloodmagic, lady. Only death may pay for life."
"Death?" Dany wrapped her arms around herself protectively, rocked back and forth on her heels. "My death?" She told herself she would die for him, if she must. She was the blood of the dragon, she would not be afraid. Her brother Rhaegar had died for the woman he loved.
"No," Mirri Maz Duur promised. "Not your death, Khaleesi." ... Mirri Maz Duur chanted words in a tongue that Dany did not know, and a knife appeared in her hand. Dany never saw where it came from. It looked old; hammered red bronze, leaf-shaped, its blade covered with ancient glyphs. The maegi drew it across the stallion's throat, under the noble head, and the horse screamed and shuddered as the blood poured out of him in a red rush. He would have collapsed, but the men of her khas held him up. "Strength of the mount, go into the rider," Mirri sang as horse blood swirled into the waters of Drogo's bath. "Strength of the beast, go into the man."Here's my daily dose of batshit: Dany sacrificed a horse (so she thought) instead of herself to save someone she loved. What if Lyanna did the opposite... and got her second life in Dustin's horse. This is turning into Not a Small Theory! lol

.I don't think she skinchanged Howland. I think she warged his horse. It definitely should be considered as a possibility, but if there's an inversion there the gray (Stark color by the way) mare does symbolize Lyanna, except instead of the knight riding the horse the "horse" is riding the knight...riding like Bran rides Hodor and skinchanges Hodor. The passage about Drogo's red stallion then is symbolic of the blood magic sacrifice of the "horse" Lyanna.

Maybe some of this can make up a new thread Re-examinging the KotLT? I agree all should be moved into a new thread. I'm sure we can bring additional details into the discussion.

A reed, cloaked in vines and flowers, on a slim, fast grey mare, facing off against a powerful opponent. Did you intend to highlight "reed" to describe how slender Ser Loras was, or to point out that reed is also Reed, as in Howland Reed? The slender (Howland) Reed, dressed in a suit of "fabulous silver armor" is actually bits and pieces of borrowed armor. The twining black vines and tiny blue sapphire blue forget-me-nots must symbolize the merging of Howland and Lyanna. A quick search for forget-me-nots brought up that they symbolize true love. They are used to decorate gifts with the hope the recipient will not forget the giver. It also symbolizes faithful love and memories, and a connection that lasts through time. Vines symbolize the sacraments, God's blood, and God himself. The cape that the flowers were sewn to could represent skinchanging. The Ser Loras, the knight, was wearing the cape of blue sapphire forget-me-nots. Just a quick aside regarding my inversion theory: The Wall acts like a gigantic Alice in Wonderland mirror. If you are inside the mirror looking down over Westeros Winterfell sits where Starfall is and Greywater Watch sits where Highgarden is. Therefore Daynes will mirror the Starks, and Tyrells will mirror Reeds, and visa versa. We should be able to draw several notable parallels and then find the inversions. In the passage you began this discussion with, Loras is riding a grey mare. The grey mare is a metaphor for Lyanna while Loras is Howland, therefore a possible inversion is that the grey mare rides the knight.

Maybe some of this can make up a new thread Re-examinging the KotLT? How about the newish thread, Mystery Knight Theater . A fitting name for such a discussion.

Came across an interesting notion at Westeros. Walys Flowers = Haldon Half-Maester. Makes sense since Walys' father was a maester and his mom a noble woman. I'll be looking at those chapters a lot more closely.

Not really a theory, but something that I read that made me wonder if it's supposed to mean something. Here's a link to an SSM that describes the arms for Bittersteel and Bloodraven What got my attention is that they both have a red stallion. Bittersteel's arms are a white field with a grey longsword bendy sinister. The upper portion has a black dragon and below has the head of a red stallion...both facing outwards. Blodraven's is a red stallion pegasus with black dragon wings instead of feathers on a golden field.

I've been trying to pinpoint when the ouroboros reversed and previously I thought there may have been a blood magic ritual performed at the tower of joy that was the catalyst, but I've changed my mind. I think our clue is The Year of the False Spring. It was "false", because the reversal made it winter again. This means that The Tourney of Harrenhal is ground zero where one reality ended and a new one began.
I think if we revisit Howland Reed's prayer to the old gods and the three wins by the Knight of the Laughing tree, and compare those accounts with "the day belonged to Rhaegar" and the men he defeated, we can now recognize there are parallels. The reversal happened after the Knight of the Laughing Tree disappeared. Rhaegar's search for the Knight resulted in Rhaegar becoming the Knight, and his sudden infatuation with Lyanna was due to the layering over of Howland's feelings when she she stood up for him against the three squires. Everything started happening in reverse after that with Lyanna's abduction being a "success" versus the parallel inversion of Elia's thwarted attack by the Kingswood Brotherhood.
