That's what I'm thinking too. Had Bran not intervened, Ned could have kept going and prevented something. Maybe a woman being stabbed?

Didn't it seem the northmen were under-armored for the fight? Allow me a scenario. Ned and company expected to meet someone, possibly Lyanna, at the tower. But Dayne and Hightower (and Whent) got there first. Rewatch the beginning of the scene and let me know what you think. Could be. Finishing out the war, they should have been armored for batlle. So not expecting a fight would fit with their riding gear. And that's what should be suspected. An unintended run in with Arthur. So, that guys too young to be Hightower. So... After a quick wiki search ( ) I found this, "An amalgamation of Gerold and Ser Oswell Whent is portrayed by Eddie Eyre during a flashback in Season 6 in the television adaptation Game of Thrones."

It works for me.
Ned and Co arrive, wearing travel clothes. They look up "Yup, this must be the place... why the hell are those guys here? Let's tie up the horses..."
Dayne and Hightower know there will be a fight when Ned arrives. They're geared up, sharpening swords, etc. Sword is struck into the earth, like a claim of "we got here first."
Ned asks about his sister because he expected to meet her there.
Fight happens. Etc. Ned heads to the tower.
Bran says "What's in the tower?" Not who, what.

I'm liking it. Totally works.
Fine and good, but....just rewatched again, 437th time, and noticed something new. Go to the TOJ video and stop it from 3:28 to 3:29. There are THREE horses tied up by the tower...all of them with a blanket showing royal colors.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF THE SEVEN LET IT BE RHAEGAR REBORN AS A DRAGON.

Arthur: *yawn* "That's nice, young actor who was only cast for their passing resemblance to Boromir. But it just so happens our Prince wanted us here. With him. He'll be making baby dragon-singing noises any moment now, just like Jorah tried to describe to Tyrion." /sandwiches

and goddamnit that's why D&D said Rhaegar was buried, and why Joff pointed out the tomb of the last Targ's. Because it will be proven that it wasn't Rhaegar who died on the Trident.

... there was an exchange where HR said "you go, I'll take care of this" or something to that effect. However, this one second interaction isn't in the youtube vids. I thought I heard this exchange as well. Watching again last night; I didn't. Also two screeches, one at 09 and another fainter after BR says time to go at 21 www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMCI8OETFCQ

Also, is that a river and white sand in the background at 16 to 18. The Tower of Joy is huge with several towers and a wall. Is this the Tower of Joy or Starfall? Ned and Howland couldn't have torn down the tower. Is this another false memory? www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aO_CsqfBAoCastle Zafra in Bodoin river region:

So I'm coming pretty late to the party, but only because I didn't get Feather's invite several days ago. My fault and I digress. Coming in two days after E3 and I find the thread 11 pages deep. Since most of you are Heretics, you will not mind going back over old ground...right? Did the tower of joy "flashback" leave anyone desiring more? I understand the need by HBO to draw this out, but if they plan is to spoon feed us with Bran's time capsules, where does this really leave his story arc at the end of this season? I suppose it could set him up for real damage/control in the next season, but I almost feel that these small clips are the proverbial "death by a thousand cuts". I guess next week we will get to see young Eddard rush into the room and find Lyanna on her bed of blood and young Skywalker, sorry Grasshopper, forgot...young Bran Greenseer in training following. I don't think it's enough after waiting so long for the next book and the let down and now undetermined date; I was hoping for a little more from the show even if it is... well, whatever it is. It's not just the ToJ scene; there's such a build up of expectation and then not much to hang your hat on. It feels that way for all the character arcs. At least to me. I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue watching the series after the last episode. Maybe it's enough for people who haven't read the books. I don't know. But then Weasel Pie comes up with crazy stuff and I'm back on the horse again.

Is this the Tower of Joy or Starfall? Min, what a catch, seriously, they never said "tower of joy."

But then Weasel Pie comes up with crazy stuff and I'm back on the horse again. Crazy is a group effort here! The thought of the scene being about a literal dragon birth/transformation is all Some Pig No Doubt's, it just struck the right cord for me when I remembered the dialogue.

It would make sense for the literal birth of a dragon, since in the past a young dragon died there.
