Good episode. Got everything I wanted to keep me going until next Sunday. Even though the story's off the rails.... next week, Kingsmoot, dragonhorn maybe? And Dany inducted into the Dosh Khaleen. A drug induced vision or two? More Ned Stark backstory?

Euron's appearance tonight can only mean they want to get to the Kingsmoot. Oh my god! Victarion... Theon is going home. God I hope he doesn't run into Ramsey. Sansa, Brienne and Pod going to the Wall. No, No don't go.

Roose taken out by Ramsey. Why did i not see that coming? Cuz in the books, Roose would never fall for something like that. Never mind he would never say something as stupid and sentimental to Ramsay, either, unless he was feeling suicidal.

That could be, Ser Dunc. Have the episode replaying now, and I didn't notice the first time through that the Ironborn mantra changed. The last part, "but rises again, harder and stronger" is not used. ?

That could be, but I was thinking that the Pink Letter could be from Ramsay if Roose was no longer around.

I really like Davos line about all the gods being the same. I think that is spot on with the books that all magic is magic with different ways of practicing it. That was interesting. I think he says the fire god, drowned god and tree god are all the same. Also did you notice that Bloodraven is given one of Patchfaces lines when Bran want's to stay longer in the past. He says "it's always wonderful under the sea". But you can't stay for long or what? I can't remember. Something like that. When Jon is resurrected; he takes a big breath like someone who drowned, coming back to life.

I wasn't expecting Euron tonight, but they did set the stage quickly. Jon as the resurrected was setup in the scene with Jaime amd the High Sparrow. He says, "Do you know why we use these stones? To remind us not to fear death. We close our eyes in this world and open them in the next." They are going for the Jesus resurrection angle, methinks. Jon was laid on a table, in a 'tomb', washed and rose again when left alone. So... Did Mel actually bring Jon back? Or was it a coincidence? I agree that his resurrection is like Jesus in that he was washed and left in a crypt, yet rose after being left alone. I didn't catch the connection you pointed out, but I love it! We close our eyes in this world and open them in the next. That is why I said Jon may be the blue eyed king that casts no shadow. So fire magic cannot be the sole credit for resurrecting him. Fire magic casts a shadow, and if he casts no shadow then it wasn't the magic of fire. That is why I asked if this was meant to be combination of fire magic with ice magic?

The Nights Watch are also drowned men under the sea. Jon was resurrected like the ironborn resuscitate their drowned believers. Love it!

I forgot that quick about Bloodraven's use of the Patchface' sayings. It surprised me. And it also fits the Ironborn. I'm thinking that it means that if Bran stays too long out of his body he will die. Like the spirit flight in the books, he must stay tethered or he will fall on the icy spikes.

Which makes me wonder if his revival has anything to do with fire or ice. The drowned god is a thrall to the Other, the Sky God. Jon is given breath, whereas Beric was kissed by fire, I believe. Beric tells Thoros and Arya that when he comes back he has the taste of ash in his mouth.

I'm thinking that it means that if Bran stays too long out of his body he will die. Like the spirit flight in the books, he must stay tethered or he will fall on the icy spikes. That is an interesting thought, and it may have merit. However...Bloodraven spends a lot of time "dreaming". Maybe it takes practice to remain underwater for a long time? Which makes me wonder if his revival has anything to do with fire or ice. The drowned god is a thrall to the Other, the Sky God. Jon is given breath, whereas Beric was kissed by fire, I believe. Beric tells Thoros and Arya that when he comes back he has the taste of ash in his mouth. I love this! If you drown under water, you need air to be revived! Of course! A nice tie in to the early war declared by the Storm King (Duran Godsgrief) against the gods for killing his wife and family. His wife was Elenei was daughter to the god of the sea and the goddess of the wind. Edited to add: it also seems to confirm that as a man of the Night's Watch Jon is a Drowned Man and was resuscitated with the breath of life.
